Our Method.

Strategic design involves several key steps that focuses first on defining the root issues of complex problems and identifying available assets. Next, the assembly of key factors into holistic solutions creates more efficient and effective results. Finally, connecting local solutions to multiple issues expands the impact of these designs across the entire ecosystem.

Conduct Interviews.

The purpose of the guided interviews is to scope the problem space and better understand the needs of individuals, communities, and the greater ecosystem. Essentially, we are creating a holistic map of the system which can include social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and technological elements.

Assets and Challenges.

Once the map is completed, it is necessary to determine the assets available for improving the system as well as the challenges that must be overcome. This step ultimately is aimed at focusing efforts to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Using and expanding what’s working reduces needed efforts.

Define Needs.

Once we map the system and expand capabilities, we can clarify needs and target efforts for improvement of the entire system. The most important element of this stage is to focus on how the local enhancements and needs connect to the greater ecosystem to ensure continued future evolution is possible.

Design Solutions.

The design stage focuses entirely on translating the last three steps into a timeline and plan for executing steps for improvement. Individuals, communities, and other entities involved in the transformation or affected by it must be defined and provided guidance in the final design.
