Principles

Education of tomorrow will necessarily evolve as we prepare students of all ages for jobs that do not yet exist and for a chaotic digital world that will overwhelm even the most resilient of individuals. In preparation, key principles for educational design must focus on developing life long learners, teaching social and emotional resilience, and ensuring learning experiences are applicable to the real world.

Technology

The learning ecosystem of tomorrow will include the use of technology, assessment, and analytics to personalize learning trajectories. Technological interoperability will be a necessity to connect not only formal, but also informal and experiential, learning experiences across time and space.

Design

Learning design will continue to include formal education but will also place significant emphasis on experiential learning such as apprenticeship models. Technology will help inform the structure, continuum, and recommendations for educational experiences at the individual level. From K-12 to higher education to adult learning, the design of personalized learning trajectories within the greater ecosystem will need to include human centered design principles and consider all the necessary elements beyond single course or learning experiences.
